A few words about the island
Kythira resembles neighboring Peloponnese in that they both have several historical castles – such as Paliochora (former capital of Kythira that was raided by the Turkish pirate Hairedin Barbarossa), Mylopotamos or Kato Chora (a Venetian castle full of buildings of the 16th century) and of course, the Castle of Kythira or Fortetsa in Chora (a Venetian fortress of the 13th century, rebuilt in the 16th century and one of the most beautiful sights with awesome views). One of the most remarkable points of the Castle is the exhibition of its coats of arms.
A brief history of the house
Pavlo was born in 1890 in the former state of Bessarabia, Russia (modern-day Moldovia). In the aftermath of the Bolshevik Revolution, Pavlo fled with his mother to Greece where he lived until his death in 1972. He worked as a journalist and translator at several Athenian newspapers. His interests included both literature and tourism (he was a member of the Union of Greek Writers and the Association of Tourism Journalists), but his favorite pastime was undoubtedly photography, to which he devoted himself during the 50s and 60s.
